Hi Life Surfers!
Let's dive into today's topic headfirst, hoping there is enough water so we don't hit the bottom too hard :-)
Do you know what is, from my coaching experience, the number one reason people don't fulfill their dreams?
They do not give their dreams a chance to even exist. Or give up too soon. Or don't allow themselves to dream (again).
Let me clear this up for you.
- If you want to be a surfer, you will have to dive into the ocean one day or another. There is no tutorial, book, video or advice that will magically turn you into a surfer overnight.
- If you want to be a dancer and you never dance, chances are you will never be a dancer.
- If you want to be an artist, a singer... just paint, draw, sing...
- If you want to make friend with someone but never talk to that person, you will remain strangers.
- If you love someone and never confess your feelings... your love will remain locked in a chest forever and someone braver than you will take your place in that person's life.
Life is all about taking risks. And you know what? The easiest risks are often the ones that can transform your life forever.
I am NOT taking about the kind of risks that you take to impress your friends, family or followers on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or any other social media. Jumping from a cliff, doing crazy things to impress.
I'm a talking about the scariest risks any human being can take: the ones we take secretly, when no ones watching. The ones that speak to our hearts and scare the hell out of us. The ones we run away from.
That little step that we don't take because... it's the scariest one.
That voice inside our heads that keeps saying "what if it doesn't work?", forgetting that yes, it can also actually work!
You will never know if you could be a good surfer or not if you never get wet.
You will never know if that person is made for you if you never talk to her/him.
You will never know if a job is made for you if you never try.
Unless you already tried, you DON'T KNOW.
Now, maybe you already tried in the past, and it didn't work.
That doesn't mean it can't work today.
Life is constantly evolving, people are evolving.
Maybe you tried to soon.
Maybe you had things to learn first.
Maybe you were not ready yet.
If you want to surf but you choose a day waves are huge, or the wind is blowing too strong, or you don't have a coach to guide you, or you choose the wrong surfboard...
Chances are you will "fail" and start thinking that surfing is not made for you.
Try again. Later. When life enables you to. When waves are smaller, easier.
Try multiple times, in different conditions, circumstances, situations, places...
If it's your dream, never stop trying. (but press pause when you feel exhausted)
Don't throw it away because you are too scared to try.
It all starts with trying.
Get into that ocean.
Take that first step forward.
And don't give up too soon.
Try again.
Water might seem cold at first, and you might not even surf right from the start, but you will enjoy the feeling of the ocean water on your skin, and maybe witness a beautiful sunset right from the water.
Priceless.
Every experience comes with something positive to focus on, things to learn, things that make us stronger.
I know a lot about failing because I know a lot about trying.
Failing won't kill you.
Not trying will.
It will kill your dreams and the life that's waiting for you, and make you sad and angry. Mad at the world around you.
In reality... you are mad at yourself. For not trying.
Finally, just because you already fulfilled a dream in the past, had a dreamy life, success and everything you wanted doesn't mean that you can't dream again now.
Dream of something new maybe?
In that case, well, welcome back to life.
You just became a beginner again!
So this post is 100% for you too.
And yes, it's 100% ok to dream of something else.
Remember that life is constantly evolving, and so are you!
Congratulations! You changed! Back to a caterpillar.
Ready to dive? Ready to turn into a butterfly?
Please feel free to share your experiences with me.
Your dreams, the things you tried, the times you ran away from your dreams, the times you came back to them, the times you succeeded too.
We're in this together.
All different, but definitely all the same.
We're stronger when we do things together.
See you next week in the big ocean of life! :-)
Until next time, happy surfing!

PS: For those of you who are still reading, here is a very sexy picture of me trying to surf...
Failing might not be sexy, but at least... it's funny! Right? :-)
I told you... there is always something positive you can get from failing.
